The quine(girl) behind Junction arts...

So who is Elaine Thomson? Here is a quick summary of my history and how I got to this point.

As a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone college of art in 2003, I began exhibiting work and pursuing my career as an artist, but I'd always wanted to open my own retail/gallery space and eventually I got there 5 years after moving back to Aberdeen.

Junction art and gifts was established in July 2008 and my dream of owning my own art gallery and gift shop had finally became a reality.

After nearly 11 years, lots of hard work, lots of ups and downs, re-branding, adding picture framing, members of staff and meeting many excellent artists, makers and customers, (oh and starting a family along the way), I decided it was time for a change and closed the physical doors of Junction arts in April 2019. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make but it felt like I was doing the right thing.

I took a break to gather my breath and then began trying to figure out who I was an artist, it had been along time since I focused on any creativity myself. I also decided to keep the name Junction arts as the branding for my own work.

I'm still figuring things out, but in the last 2 years things have definitely began to take shape. I'm confident I've made a good start on my new path and I hope there's lots more exciting things to come.
