Artists in the Spotlight...
From Saturday 1st September
Bringing together three artists all specialising in mixed media work.
Corvid Eyes by Jenny Hood
A Gray's School of Art graduate, 2009, with photography and digital collage forming the basis of her artistic practice.
Under the moniker 'Corvid Eyes' she creates paper collages and paste-ups demonstrating her magpie method of working, reworking historical and found imagery into new narratives of sorrow, joy, and the absurd.
A Edinburgh College of Art graduate, 2005, with a BA (hons) in Drawing and Painting, who also has a career in teaching.
Gemma enjoys working with paint and collage, exploring different methods of paint application and building a piece of work through balancing colour and shapes.
Her most recent work focuses on bee conservation, the focal point is the bee, with accompanying text, often sharing a message or information with the viewer.
A Gray's School of Art graduate, specialising in printmaking, later training as a secondary school art teacher.
Taking inspiration from nature and natural form, Ashleigh has consistently combined a range of printmaking techniques in her work, generating pattern through mark making and line, exploring how this can be combined and layered. Working with fabrics introduces stitch to her work adding a further layer of mark making and texture.
